How to request an ATTOM ID for a property address that cannot be found automatically

Last updated: September 1, 2026

If your system is unable to automatically locate an ATTOM ID for a property address, you can contact ATTOM Data Solutions support to look it up manually. This is common when addresses use non-standard formatting, highway route numbers, abbreviations, or when a property is newly constructed.

What information to provide

When submitting a request, include as much of the following as possible to help the support team locate the property quickly:

  • Full property address — including street number, street name, city, state, and ZIP code

  • Alternate address formats — for example, how the address appears on Google Maps, or any known variations (e.g., "LA-331" vs. "Louisiana 331" vs. "La Hwy 331")

  • Property owner's full name

  • Parcel number / APN (if available) — this is especially helpful for hard-to-find properties

Common reasons an address may be difficult to locate

  • Non-standard street name formatting: Highway route numbers are often stored differently in ATTOM's database than how they appear on maps or in common usage. For example, "US-62" may be stored as "US Highway 62," "Louisiana 331" as "La Hwy 331," or "Ohio 203" as "State Route 203."

  • Abbreviated or shortened street names: Google Maps and other services sometimes abbreviate street names (e.g., "6 Spg Ml Wds Ct" instead of "6 Spring Mill Woods Ct"). ATTOM's records may use the full or a different standardized form.

  • Multiple city names for the same address: Some properties, particularly in rural or border areas, may be associated with more than one city name. ATTOM's database will only contain the city name as recorded by the county.

  • Multiple APNs at the same address: Some addresses have more than one parcel number (APN) and therefore more than one ATTOM ID. Support can help identify which ATTOM ID corresponds to the correct parcel.

  • Newly constructed properties: Homes built recently on ranch or undeveloped land may not yet appear in ATTOM's database. In these cases, the support team may need to escalate to the data team for further research, and providing the owner's name or APN can help.

  • Address discrepancies vs. county records: The address stored in ATTOM's system reflects what the county assessor has on file, which may differ from the address on a deed, a mailing address, or what appears on mapping services.

What to expect from support

In most cases, the support team can look up the ATTOM ID directly and respond with the correct ID and the standardized address as it appears in ATTOM's system.

If the ATTOM ID is found but returns no results in the API

If you receive an ATTOM ID but your API call returns no results, this may be because the property has no recorded sales history on file. In this case, there is no additional lookup or override available on ATTOM's side — the API reflects the absence of recorded transaction data from ATTOM's sources. If you have documented sale information that is not reflected, you can share it with support to pass along to the data vendor for review.

If the issue appears to be technical rather than a data gap, start by checking with your own development team and, if needed, share the full API request URL with ATTOM support for troubleshooting.
